I can't recall seeing any postings regarding federal agencies (non
military)
use of low band VHF (30 to 60 mhz).

Anyone else monitor VHF low band (non military) that has federal users on a

daily basis?

I asked that same question a long while back, Ken. So far I think I've
gotten 0 reports of federal, non-military radio usage. The last big federal
users were mostly Department of the Interior or Department of Agriculture
units, but almost all federal agencies have or had allocations in the
low-band channels.

Catches on the low band channels, either federal or military, can be a
challenge. The band is full of noise in most urban environments and you've
got to have a decent antenna to get anything.

I suspect this range of frequencies has fallen out of favor with all the
new technology that's driving RF systems these days. The band has some
disadvantages, but maybe some day the radio equipment manufacturers will
come up with something new that can utilize that under used bandwidth...

WiFi on 42 MHz?!?
