Additionally publically available "official" information seems to indicate
some fairly strong concern about repeater installation costs and also
replacement of antennas & cabling.

Apparently CAP made the decision not to go forward for funding for complete
antenna & cabling replacment at all sites due to the very significiant costs
BUT may have some funds available for major upgrades at the most critical
sites. This information also confirms my initial theory that CAP's
repeater frequencies would remain within the same 1 mhz spread so that CAP
wouldn't have to replace antennas. CAP "negotiated" with AFFMA & MCEB to
achieve this.

Additionally, those new "refrigerator" size repeaters are going to be
shipped out so that they arrive at the various wings by 4/1/07. The Wings
(states) will have from 4/1/07 through 9/30/07 to transition to the new
repeater frequencies.

I'm very surprised that CAP hasn't done more for it's members to negotiate
some sort of deal with major radio manufacturers to provide "discounted"
radios to CAP members. Including the folks from EF Johnson!

The internet continues to be a wondeful source of information to
hobbyists!!!

BTW I AGAIN would like to emphasize that Civil Air Patrol is always looking
for "quality" people, both seniors & cadets to participate in its' various
programs. You can find the CAP unit(s) closest to you by going to the
website: http://cap.findlocation.com/ and follow the instructions.
