Well recently, I went from a "stealth" mobile operation to using a magnetic
mount small (almost stealth) profile VHF high band antenna (Pro Comm
S-CD144BN, Grove's ANT50 http://www.grove-ent.com/procomm.html ) for the
milcom/fedcom bands & also added also added a antenna splitter
(http://www.grove-ent.com/SPL2.html) so I could utilize two scanners in the
vehicle.
I was pleasantly surprised at the results. Including very good 30-50,
400-420 mhz, 800 mhz results as well as excellent/outstanding results in the
108-174 mhz range. As an example more than 40 miles out from Bradley IAP
(Windsor Locks CT), I was picking up the TSA digital repeater on 172.90.
Again what I like abou the antenna is that is is only 20 inches high and
hasn't fallen off at interstate highway speeds.
