Still, the Bureau has used 167 in and 163 out for decades.  Then a few years back they reversed the two and now have mostly 162-3 in and 167 out.  The brand new ones in the 170s probably have even wider spacing.  I expect they're awash in "Homeland Security" $$$ and don't know what to do with it all.  They'll put in all the new repeaters and then still use cellphones instead.

That's 2.5 times wider than what's used on 144-148 MHz.
