The Tracker antenna has no problems
receiving through plastic, metal, or glass.
The GPS antenna is hidden, but done
so in a fashion that it allows a clear view
of the sky.

Additionally, if cell signal is lost for some
reason, once the unit gets back into range,
it can automatically call the agencys office,
to let them know it's available for tracking
again. Also, the transmitter is much more
powerful than a general cell phone wattage
output (allowing for more increased range),
but I'll leave it at that.
