This frequency has been used on a number of occasions for
chit-chat/coordination between USBP helo's out here in Srn AZ.

I've never heard SAR on it.

123.10 is designated for that use.  I would think that if there was an
actual SAR mission going on that there wouldn't be any chit chat so to
speak.  Unlike your typical scannerland dispatch frequency that isn't the
purposes of this frequency.  It would be more of a MULTICOM type freq which
could be air to ground, and air/air for mutiple agency response.   So I'm
guessing if Civil Air Patrol had the only (corporate owned) aircraft flying,
they'd be using their VHF-FM freqs in lieu of VHF aero.  BUT if there were
other CAP member owned aircraft & other agencies aero assets (eg State PD
Helo) than that frequency would be used.
