It's highly unlike that all of the radios purchased are P25 Digital capable
at this point. You have to remember that basically most of the CAP VHF
radio communications network (primarily of which most is member privately
own non-compliant radios) is going to lose a lot of capability when wings
official start changing those repeaters over to the new narrow band
frequencies. So I don't think you are going to see a rush to change over
the repeater systems. An educated guess is that CAP will have the entire
VHF repeater network changed over by 10/1/07 with most conversions taking
place Jul/Aug/Sep time frame. Would be interesting to know how many EF
Johnson radios were actually purchased by CAP. I think the contract calls
for a base/mobile configuration, e.g. base power supply provided with each
radio. Not sure how many new portable w/t's were also purchased. Some CAP
mobile radio antennas have to be replaced. What CAP did was to establish a
table of allowance for radio equipment based upon unit as well as function.
e.g. squadron level, ground search team. Wing/Group level, Mission Base....
Remember now that ground search teams will deploy with a combo of VHF radio
(mobiles/porables) and the Intersquad Radios.
