It still works here in the SF Bay Area & they also use Nextel. As for
the lake, some local water districts here in N Calif. use sat phones as
that is the only comms they have to get to the world. We just put in a
voice over IP microwave powered by solar for Lake County Water District
so they might be able to get rid of the sat phones soon.
