What's would be interesting is to find out IF they are using "DIRECT TALK"
(off network communications)
http://nextelonline.nextel.com/en/services/walkietalkie/offnetwork.shtml in
addition to the "walkie talkie" function. Wondering if they utilize the
"group walkie talkie" function at all.
BTW one of the cable channels showed US Marshal's Service Fugitive
Apprehension Team using nextel walkie talkie/cellular service for doing the
exact same thing you mention below BUT reverting to to agency
portables/mobiles during the actual operational apprehension "take down"
phase.
