Rod and the group.. My intention is NOT to upset anyone!!!
It's interesting that Al had this frequency in his scanner. Perhaps as a
potential air/air tactical AM mode that he started to pickup some
interference so changed to NFM mode and made the scoop. Remember Al's
original post didn't address WHY he was scanning that frequency!!!
Maybe this is a VERY GOOD frequency for hobbyists close to the sea coast to
monitor for potential "intrigue" for its' unauthorized/unofficial use by
"fisherman"???
Also what is going to be the military/federal response to this
"unauthorized" use? IF the frequency is NOT being used locally, and there's
no interference to the local bases' LMR nets (or air/air, air/ground
tacticals), do officials really care to allocate manpower to track the
source of this signal? How about nationwide --- Potentially are there
other frequencies especially below & above the amateur radio bands
(140-144/148-150.8 mh) that may be used randomly by 'others'? (and I'm
going to leave the definition of "others" to your imagination, but also
suggest you do some web research, that may lead you to down the path
I think part of this "intrigue" (and I mean FUN!!!) involves hobbyists just
searching the military & federal frequency bands looking for the potential
unauthorized use.
