I was going to chime in too and give old Ken some
s**t ...:) , but since Greg jumped in I won't...<BG>

Personally I find the postal communications either
boring as hell, or lively. But lively not in a way that
would hold my interest for any length of time. The
language gets pretty rancid sometimes (like
listening to the barge captains on the Mississippi),
but probably it's the general "attitude" of the individuals
on the radio that annoy me. The supervisors really talk
down to the people working under them like they're
pieces of dirt. Many are really on extreme power trips.
It's sad in a way. It's no wonder these folks go "postal"
if they have to put up with this crap on an everyday basis.

To stay on topic, most of the postal stuff here in DFW
is on UHF, with some VHF stuff here and there. Nothing
trunked or digital, YET. I really don't have an up to date
frequency list, as I stated above, I really don't listen to them,
or have a desire. My interest is LE. Along that vein, 417.600
is the primary repeater for the inspectors here in DFW, with
414.750 as an auxiliary. Actually both freqs key up at the
same time, but 417.600 is MUCH stronger, leading me to
believe that 414.750 might be a rural repeater farther out
from the metro. At one time (and this has been SEVERAL years
ago) I heard a surveillance on 415.775, but I have not heard a
peep since. I've never heard anything on the old standbys of
415.05, 413.600, and 415.450 as well. I conclude that they're
Nextel now, or they are piggybacking on another system (such as
FBI or ICE), and I just haven't figured out their unit numbers yet.
But honestly, I don't even have 417.600 in my regular scan bank
anymore. All I hear is "in service" "out of service" (translation -
BORING), never any good undercover surveillance stuff. Oh
well, there is a TON of other stuff to listen to....:)
