Along similar lines... In 1991 when Mobile Telephones in Los Angeles County
still used 450 MHz, later switched to Highway Call-boxes, then AAA, I heard
a phone ringing... A fellow answered "Hello?" "Frank?" "Yes" "This is
Officer (forgot the name) with the Beverly Hills Police Department, I'm a
couple of cars behind you and you really want to slow down" "Thanks", end
of call.

The BATF agent called his home after the shooting to let his wife
know he was OK, but he broke down in tears on the air, and of course she
started crying, too. It was one of those things that you sometimes hear that
you will never forget...
