Well more information on the Springfield BMC can be found at:
http://www.usps.com/bulkmailcenters/officeinfo/springfield.htm

After additional monitoring I've concluded that the VHF & UHF radio systems
are separate systems not simucast information or linking VHF & UHF. The
Springfield facility building actually consists of two separate divisions.
One basically does the letters & flats & the other does packages.

1. General Mail Facility (GMF), now known as Processing & Distribution
Facility, which is a central mail facility that processes & dispatches
incoming and outgoing mail to and from a designated service area. I believe
this division uses UHF.

2. Bulk Mail Facility (BMF) a central mail facility that processes bulk
rate parcels as the hub in a hub and spoke network. I believe this
division uses VHF.

Most of the actual voice communications is pretty boring but again it's the
"chase" so to speak of searching the federal radio bands; discovering the
active frequencies; monitoring the specific newly discovered frequencies;
and evaluating what you hear to determine what the functional usage of these
frequencies.

Of course, there may be some additional support radio nets such as security,
that I still haven't specifically found. (Does onsite security actually
has access to an off site radio system that's used by the US Postal
Inspectors & that Specific Dispatch Center e.g. Boston?)

BTW a complete list of BMC's & ASF's can be found at:
http://www.usps.com/bulkmailcenters/officeinfo.htm

Now there's a monitoring challenge for hobbyists in each of these geographic
areas to monitor these facilities & post a complete list of frequencies in
use/specific frequency usage.
