I know this has been a hot topic of discussion lately on the list,
but I have to side with Chris and others on this. My opinion (FWIW)
is that the the feeb newbie has gotten his training at Quantico. What
better way than to introduce his "training" into how the agency works
than to throw he or she right into the fire in a "real life" surveillance,
bust, HRT, or operation. Again, that's not training, that's how it is in
the "real world!" And that's the best way to learn. You learn to duck
when the bullets start flyin'...:)
I'm all for the "train as you go" principal with a mentor in a real life
situation. Doesn't matter if you're a bus driver or piloting a barge
down the Mississippi. For me, I believe that's how you learn the
ropes.
As far as radio traffic on the channels, I believe what we are
hearing is the "real" stuff most of the time....
