Bill,
You started emailing me in private which was fine and I honored that but now since you took it public I will post my comments public as well.
You obviously did not grasp the point of my statements and are getting off of the subject of my post. I am not talking about Mutual Join Operations. Any veteran Federal radio listener knows Joint operations occur frequently. Any Veteran listener already knows all the common well known Frequency coordination's. But that is not what I am referencing too. I am referring to an agency actually having primary comms on a non Band plan assigned frequency/ or frequencies and having the listener confirm it.
This occurs more then you know and I being a veteran Vendor for several agencies know this all too well since I have read several radios and have spoken to several people on the inside that confirm they do not like using frequencies that people know of so they migrate elsewhere. And usually migrate out of the federal band plan all together.
The whole point of me posting againest Chris is because someone posted a frequency, and Chris jumps in and gives information on the obvious. That it is a FPS frequency. So what? That may no longer be the primary user of that frequency in the area that the person heard it. If it is the agency that is assigned to that frequency then great ! Let the original poster confirm it.
Again, talking from experience, I have seen the radios and talked to the agencies that have confirmed they do not always stay on the band plan assignments.
So in closing I say. Don't assume. Assuming only makes an ass out of yourself :)

Roberto Irizarry

Just because my Local Police have access to 418.6250 156.7 Hz [Yes, DEA,
Yup, Confirmed DEA, 100% DEA]
doesn't mean it's Boston Police channel. :)
Many Agencies [Task Forces, Strike Forces, etc] are Loaned radios all the
time.
Just because I heard a Trooper using 167.4875 R 167.9 Hz and P25 $167,
doesn't mean it's a State Police Channel.
Nope, this is 100% an FBI Channel.
Chris keep feeding us the information, as well as the others who SHARE and
continue to SEARCH out new and Re-Confirmed users of the Spectrum.
There is so much more out there, just we need to teach and guide folks into
using the SEARCH function on their Scanners.
Working on an ODD one here in Boston this past week. Very outside of the
406-420 Range.
401.6125 P25/Enc $185 thoughts/Comments

Pretty good Signal Strength...

Example:
Lets say you hear a surveillance going on, on a frequency assigned to the
DEA, so you assume its DEA because you know they conduct surveillance
operations all the time and you say to yourself, who else could it be, sound
like DEA right?
Well ask yourself this.
Can you count how many agencies conduct surveillance operations? Several.
So you assume its DEA, but yet its not, might be the IRS. Now you just
misinformed yourself and the group.
"If its not right, no big deal, I can live with it and not get upset over
sharing that info"
If that was the case then why even share the info to begin with if you don't
care if the info is correct or not ?? Why be informed if you are
misinformed?? That makes no sense at all...
The whole point of sharing info is to share correct and accurate info. NOT
misleading info, or info that is obvious {IE. Known Assigned Agencies to a
frequency }
