Well, it seems it's time for me to put my two cents in too. Normally I
delete crap like what this thread has become, but sometimes a man needs to
raise his voice against tyranny....

If any one needs to be labeled as an ass, it is the sort of person who jumps
on others for sharing, even when it is 'the obvious.' What's obvious to a
veteran, might not be so obvious to others. And, who made anyone the list
police? I sure as heck never gave anyone permission to ridicule, rebuke or
censor others on my behalf. As far as I know, the only one who has any
moral (or censorship) authority are the list moderators and so far I haven't
heard them comment that Chris Parris' post(s) were inappropriate, out of
line, or contrary to list policy. Therefore, they were appropriate, and
undoubtedly appreciated by many.

If one wants to make the argument that the poster has a responsibility to
vet, or determine the accuracy of a post of information, I won't disagree,
but I also won't require that there be a high threshold (or one that is
higher than what we hold news gathering agencies to.) There are no
guarantees in life, and I never saw a requirement that you can only post
info that you can guarantee is 100% accurate. Boy, if that were the
standard, how do we determine what 'accurate' means?

If one wants to try to hide behind an argument that the discussion is only
about identifying agencies that are using frequencies that are not their
original assignment, then one needs to know both who might have been
assigned to the frequency in question, and where the intruding user was
originally assigned. So, once again, we see that things are not as
'obvious' as one might wish them to be.

Now, Roberto, you might have been having a bad day. I don't know. What I
do know is that your comments and specifically your berating Chris' offering
have been inappropriate. I don't think any one here cares one bit how
veteran you are, or what you know (or what you think you know) or that you
are in the 2-way radio biz, or anything else for that matter when you start
acting like you are the list police and can determine what is ok to post and
what isn't ok.

If you have something CONSTRUCTIVE to offer, do so. If you have negative
comments, keep them to yourself. If you don't like a post, use the delete
key, otherwise, don't show your lack of culture and sense by acting like a
bully or know-it-all, and don't attack others for trying to constructively
add to a thread.

Bill,

You started emailing me in private which was fine and I honored that but
now since you took it public I will post my comments public as well.

You obviously did not grasp the point of my statements and are getting
off of the subject of my post. I am not talking about Mutual Join
Operations. Any veteran Federal radio listener knows Joint operations occur
frequently. Any Veteran listener already knows all the common well known
Frequency coordination's. But that is not what I am referencing too. I am
referring to an agency actually having primary comms on a non Band plan
assigned frequency/ or frequencies and having the listener confirm it.

This occurs more then you know and I being a veteran Vendor for several
agencies know this all too well since I have read several radios and have
spoken to several people on the inside that confirm they do not like using
frequencies that people know of so they migrate elsewhere. And usually
migrate out of the federal band plan all together.

The whole point of me posting againest Chris is because someone posted a
frequency, and Chris jumps in and gives information on the obvious. That it
is a FPS frequency. So what? That may no longer be the primary user of that
frequency in the area that the person heard it. If it is the agency that is
assigned to that frequency then great !  Let the original poster confirm it.

Again, talking from experience, I have seen the radios and talked to the
agencies that have confirmed they do not always stay on the band plan
assignments.

So in closing I say. Don't assume. Assuming only makes an ass out of
yourself :)
