Annually there has been a "Scanner Listeners Forum" at the Peoria Superfest
(Hamfest). This year the forum and discussion will begin at 1 p.m. on
Saturday September 19. The forum/meeting will be held in the Forums
Building, one building west of the Youth Building (the largest display
building).

John Coker, N9FAM, will moderate the forum. Topics usually include new
scanners, statewide radio system updates (including Starcom21), changes in
public safety systems, trunking systems, federal systems, military aircraft,
sources of frequencies, and other topics as raised by the attendees.
Several experts are usually in the audience, and can answer most questions
that are typically raised.

Norm Schrein of National Communications magazine will be selling Bearcat
radios, accessories, and subscriptions in his commercial booth in the Youth
Building both Saturday and Sunday. Other vendors will have scanners and
accessories also.

If there is enough advance interest, the Scanner Listener Forum will be held
again on Sunday, September 20, with the time and building location to be
announced that day. If you wish to have one on Sunday, please let
n9fam at arrl.net know.

Peoria Superfest is a two-day hamfest, the largest in Illinois outside the
Chicago area. More info on Peoria Superfest can be found at
www.peoriasuperfest.com. Those that wish to sell in the outdoor Flea
Market are advised to order spaces in advance on the website, especially if
electrical hookup is to be needed.
