And as you mentioned off list there are poor audio quality issues with using
Linux with various sound cards simply because manufacturers do not write
drivers for Linux so who knows what the actual audio quality will be...but I
still think it would be a fun project either way. ;-)
Reading radio reference further it says: "DSD and mbelib should compile on
Linux and *BSD operating systems. Any linux distribution should work as long
as it has support for your audio devices. DSD version 1.3 and later requires
mbelib 1.2 or later."
I wonder if the "*BSD operating system" has better audio quality?
Oh and one more FYI:

A: No, but other developers are supposedly working on a port to Windows
