Omaha crash in Alamo,Texas - N3925A
Officials: No One Injured in Border Patrol Helicopter Crash
ALAMO - The pilot of a Border Patrol helicopter crash landed in south Alamo on Tuesday afternoon. He
came down near the levee on Stewart Road. CHANNEL 5 NEWS has confirmed that nobody in the helicopter
or on the ground was hurt.
As this was happening, another scene was happening south of Alamo. Alamo police say it's linked to
an investigation on drugs.
A few people who live close to where the chopper went down witnessed the crash. Mitchell Whitney
says the chopper was flying so low the trees covered his view. He could hear it, just not see it.
Flashing lights are all you could see down Whitney's street. He lives off Stewart Road near Hall
Acres. Whitney says his street is usually quiet, but today was much different. A CBP chopper was
flying nearby in pursuit of an alleged drug smuggler. Whitney heard it all.
"Just walking around out there and all of a sudden I heard this helicopter flying over head, and
while it was flying over head, it was real low. I was expecting it to come over our way, and then
all of a sudden, I didn't hear it anymore, and I heard this real loud crash. Not a crash but a big
thud," says Whitney.
Whitney and a friend jumped into a golf cart to see what had happened. They were unable to find the
crash scene. Whitney says it was only a matter of time before law enforcement was on scene. He was
hoping to see how he could help. He's content knowing nobody was injured.
