Two-way Radio, Nuclear Anxiety, and the Birth of the Emergency
Communications Center

In 1951, The General Electric Company made this movie about how
mobile radio could be a part of a local government's response to a
Soviet nuclear attack. Filmed in Syracuse New York, which at that
time was the home of General Electric's mobile radio business, it
shows one of the first examples of what has evolved into the modern
emergency communications systems.
