(1) Has anyone looked into general safety issues of teletypes and
young children? I have 3-year-old twins, and in the past I let them
play with my IBM selectric. I figured it was pretty indestructible,
but because it has an open top, they had to be supervised in the end.
Finally I had to take it away because they started "feeding" it.

I nice, reliable electromechanical teleprinter has been on my "to
acquire" list for several year. Now I'm thinking it would be fun to
set up two teletypes at home and let my twins learn about
communication at-a-distance.

To this end...

(2) I'm looking for one (or two) Teletype Model Compact 28's in good
working order. One of them can be an RO. A gear shift option would
be nice. I'm willing to clean them up, but nothing that needs
overhauling, please. I live near Boston, and I'm willing to pick up
if you are within easy driving distance.

Thanks,
