[GreenKeys] Model 14 T-D with weird commutator

OK all you TTY old-timers - here's one for you:

Back in the late '60s I picked up a Model 14 T-D.

Normally the commutator (?) is cut into 7 segments: The start bit and
the 5 data bits - which are the same physical size, followed by the stop
bit which is about 1 1/2 the size of the data bits.

This one had (as I recall) 6 really short bits, followed by a really
long stop bit. 

Does anyone know what this was?

Of course it wouldn't work - so I soldered them all together, cut them
to the proper length with a hacksaw, rewired them up, and "wall-lah" I
had a Model 14 TD that performed like sh*t...
