I need to make several announcements...
First problem is we have lost all contact with two of our directors:
C. Ben Stephens and Mike Roberts
Somewhere I had their phone numbers, but so far I have not been able
to find them. Ben used to live in Lake Forest, Illinois so maybe Tom
could try to reach him. Mike was the gentleman who has a collection
of rare model 42 Teletypes and auxiliary reader punch units complete
with tables. I do not know where he is located. Both of their email
addresses are no longer usable.
Now for some happy news... Gil Smith of Vaux Electronics has
accepted an appointment as a Technical Director at Large. Gil is the
moderator for the GREENKEYS Internet reflector and has lots of
experience with electronics relating to communications, especially
interfaces. I am very pleased he has agreed to join our team.
I am also appointing Warren Brader to the position of Executive
Director. Warren has been a wonderful supporter of our preservation
efforts and was instrumental in helping provide equipment and a
native American speaker for the cryptology exhibit that is now on
display at the CMA. Warren is a San Diego native and will be
available locally when I am in Illinois. I will return to San Diego
before the very cold weather sets in back East. Warren is the Curator
of the Combat Communications Museum at Montgomery Field in San Diego.
He is currently on exersize with the Army Reserve protecting Indiana
from Terrorist that might contaminate the cities water supply.
David and Rush of CMA and I have now moved most of the Fallbrook
collection to the Computer Museum of America at 640 C Street in San
Diego. Some of the duplicate equipment is being stored in their
warehousing. The move will be complete in about two weeks. I am
having the museum phone line disconnected; calls will be referred to
the CMA number: (619) 235-8222.
Yours for data communications preservation,
Don
