It's exciting to hear users interested in RTTY again. In the
planning to getting prepared for the approval, it would be great
if we had many ideas for how to use the spectrum. One
idea would be to use a multi-channel PSK-31 concept that would
allow for 16 to 32 channels to occupy the 2.4 KHz bandwidth
allocated to the service. Details for one such idea can be
found at:
http://www.rtty.com/bytheway/WinPSK31-16/
Of course there is always the traditional RTTY BAUDOT transmission
software used on WA9XHN and WC2XPF for it's 21 months of service.
It's primary function was designed to control a Hal Communications
ST-6 TU with the RS-232 modification. That was "true FSK", not
the AFSK method used by 99% of the RTTY users use on the ham bands
today. The controlling application was called "RTTYApp".
The "RTTYApp" application George used for WA9XHN and WC2XPF has
since been modified to link to the "WinPSK31-16" application and
the Internet for broadcast material. In addition, there has always
been the capability to support multiple COM ports talking to TNC's
that have AMTOR and FEC capability. See the WinPSK31-16 link
for more details.
Don't forget, for those of you with ST-6 TU's (with RS-232 mod)
or an RS-232-to-RTTY current loop adapter, the software application
found at the following location allows you to copy PSK-31 signals
and drive your BAUDOT teletype (as a printer).
