[GreenKeys] TELEX and TWX Service

Hi Ed,

Western Union pretty much folded up both TELEX and TELEX II (their 
name for TWX).  I think overseas cables are still handled by them and 
another company; American Cable & Wireless.  Last I heard they were 
using Seimens 5 level  TELEX machines for that purpose.  A few third 
world countries still use 5 level Baudot (ITA2) but not for long...

The Wide Area Data Service (WADS) area codes for dial TWX... 710, 
810, 910 were all released for telephone usage.  The growth of 
economical high quality fax machines killed the need for TELEX and 
TWX in the USA.  FAX is also killing the overseas business too.  It 
will not be long before all exchange based teletypewriter service 
will be dead, if it isn't already.

I will let you know when I find out the dates. The last TELEX & TWX 
Directory I found is dated 1983.
