Item Description:
This is a rare Vietnam War era Mite Corp. portable teletype machine, made for the US Military. These were used by all branches of the armed forces and are the smallest machines of the era, being about the size of a portable typewriter. The keyboard unlocks and slides inside for transit.
These machines can be set up for 60-100 wpm depending upon selection of an internally provided gear set. This model has a 110 V 60 Hz single phase motor so it will run on ordinary line voltage.
This machine is in superb, if not like new condition. It was government reconditioned in 1972 and has not been used or out of the original carton since (other than for these photos !)
Also included is the rare shock mount tray, an original full depot maintenance manual (about 1 inch thick), and the very hard to find matching power and i/o connector (this is a single plug style MITE.)
If you have ever wanted one of these machines for your collection, this is the one for you ! They don't come in much nicer shape than this, or with all the accessories. I have never wired up the power connector, so this machine is sold as-is, but as mentioned above, it is in pristine reconditioned shape. If you need teletype paper, I can include several unused rolls for free, with a corresponding increase in shipping weight.
Shipping and Payment Terms: By the time this is all double boxed and securely packed, the weight will be heading into the "brute" class at about 55 lbs., so expect shipping to be somewhat expensive. Shipping will be at counter rate by FedEx Ground from zip 93940. No foreign sales. Payment by cashier's check, money order, or credit cards via BidPay. No PayPal on this item. Local pickup possible if desired.
