Thanks for your e-mail.
Indeed it does sound like you have a fine specimen of a Model 15, along
with the Western Electric Loop Supply.
The Model 15's value is essentially in the eye of the beholder. Ebay will
have people on there trying to get 200 dollars for a "rare" teletype, and
then others will toss them in the dump because they are old and ugly,
worthless, and not computer based.
There is a reflector called 'GreenKeys' which is populated by a group of
people still devoted to the glory of the days when machines that typed at
a distance were all the nation and the world had to transport data from A
to B.
I am sending this e-mail to you, and posting it on GreenKeys with your
note pasted below it, and I feel reasonably certain that one of the
right-minded citizens of GreenKeys will make a sincere effort to make sure
your machine does not become reinforcing steel.
73 and thanks,

hi,
i have what appears to be a model 15 Teletype. the only nameplate i can
find without removing the cover says UK800DRA Serial 117126. Externally,
it looks just like the one shown at
http://www.vauxelectronics.com/gil/tty/teletype_corp.htm
it sits on the original base. i had it working at one time, and was
going to build an adapter so that i could get tty over the air, but that
never materialized.
There is an attached power supply, marked as follows:
Western Electric
Input AC 115v
Rectifier KS5263-L7
Output DC 120/75
35w
Amp. Cont. 2
Serial 14212
Power Equipment Co., Galion Ohio
There is also a separate plug-in component, which could be a
mercury-wetted relay, marked 314A 65-39 Danger High Pressure Do Not
Open. It has 8-pins
i thought i had manuals for this, or a similar model, but i have not
been able to locate them yet.
i have had this unit for about 20 years. it is in excellent shape. the
case is crinkle-painted a bright blue which appears to be original. the
glass is cracked, but intact.
it came from a sheriff's department, possibly part of an old civil
defense program.
does it have any value to a collector? i have looked on eBay, but don't
see much of a market there. it is very heavy, so it would have to be
picked up in Saginaw MI.
any info you could provide would be appreciated.
thanks
