Thanks Don, for your support !!
There are a number of us who are really taking this seriously. We have
it on good authority that if we get enough support, the FCC is
predisposed to approve Widecast. But it's going to take solid support
from RTTY enthusiasts everywhere.
By the way, I have invested over $20,000 in commercial HF transmitters,
exciters, frequency standards, frequency counters, monitoring equipment,
etc. so that when Widecast is approved we have transmitters to do the
broadcasting: two Collins 208U-3's at 3 KW continuous each and a Gates
HF-3000 at 3kw continuous, plus a Harris 131 exciter. I have acquired
four model 28 TD's, three Model 28 reperfs, and 4 model 28 machines, and
a dedicated computer all to be used in support of the Widecast project.
I will shortly purchase emergency generators to run all of this in the
event of an extended power failure. I will keep two of the transmitters
here for operations and make one of them available to another who wants
to participate in the transmitting duties.
With a little luck, we will have continuous broadcast of RTTY news,
weather, and Homeland Security bulletins and advisories on the HF bands
where everyone can copy RTTY to their heart's content. But we sure need
at least the moral support and comments to the FCC of other Greenkeyers
if this is to come to pass.
Best regards -- Roy
