Now that everyone is reminiscing about past RTTY greats did anyone know
Merrill Swan W6AEE. I believe he has been gone for some years now.

Yes, I knew Merrill Swan, W6AEE. I remember when he would host an afternoon
get together at his place for the RTTYers. If I remember correctly Merrill
Swan passed away before Irv Hoff. Going to Merrill's place for the RTTY get
togethers was way back when I had just figured out how to get a Model 26 machine
on the air in the mid fifties. Wow, that was almost 50 years ago. Well,
actually almost 48 years ago. It was shortly after getting my model 26 on the air
that I started keeping a regular sked with Bart, W6OWP. That weekly sked
still continues after all these years. I plan to keep a RTTY sked with Bart
tonight. I believe Bart and I have now kept the longest running RTTY sked in ham
radio history. After the model 26 came a model 19 and finally a model 28 ASR
complete with gear shift. I still have the model 28 but normally use a
computer for RTTY.
Tom, I also remember having a nice cruise/trip to Anchorage and on to
Fairbanks last year.
