The Distortion analyizer in this E-bay listing was an
"old" piece when I started my TTY training in '65
although the Army was still teaching it as a "TTY line
conditionerand equipment Tester"

basically the screen was a set of lamps and would spin
with the lights "lignting appropriately aginst a
marked outer ring, a lighted blur" at the preset
distiortion settings for the transmit side
and then while testing a keyboard would do the same on
an incoming signal... its accuracy could be
determined buy the "eye" of the user and a few other
factors...

its accuracy was questionable... but by then '65 we
had other equipment that would more accurately test
distortion and send diatorted signals to test the
reliance of the recieve
equipment.

If anyone is interested for collecting ... there is a
sperry rand "gyroscope" test set available in Canada
free for the shipping...

contact Doug Davies directly... he is not a Greenkeys

I have a picture of the set if you would like to see
it... from Dougs description the set is at least in
partial working order.

Regarding this old Sperry Teletest unit, do you know
of anyone who may wantto have it? Maybe you could
post it on the GreenKeys list for me. AlthoughI can't
test it, it just may still work and it would be a
shame to throw itin the dump. As I mentioned the
"Test 40" button puts the % Distortionmeter right on
the "40" mark so something is still working. If
anyone doeswant it, all they have to pay is the
shipping cost. It was given to me soI'm glad to give
it away to a good home. Please let me know.
