A 35 typebox in a 28 would cause problems because the typebox is fully "populated", meaning it has type pallets in the spaces where the 28 would be operating in a function mode versus a print mode. In other words, when the machine is receiving LTRS, it still operates the front plate and the type hammer still trips; but, it doesn't hit anything because that space on the typebox is empty. Same for CR, LF, FGS, SPACE, etc.
