Everything I am sending to GreenKeys is being bounced back so I am
forwarding this directly to you:

Subject: 10 Mhz just isn't working out for Autostart

Hi Gang,

I have been monitoring 10.137300 Mhz for a week now and transmitting a
net call and bulletin every half hour for four days. The results have
been mediocre at best. While 6 or so stations have given me signal
reports, all of them have been "copyable" but that's it. Most of the
stations I have heard have been S-5 to 6. Even WWV runs only about an
S-9 on good days and S-7 at other times. I have held several very
marginal QSO's on the frequency

I learned earlier today that even the Clatter Net which normally
operates on 10.1375 I believe, has abandoned 30 meters and moved to 40
meters due to poor propagation.

Bob Camp had ealier suggested a multiband approach and I think he is
right. To make coast to coast during the day will probably take 20
meters. At night, after the 20 meter banc closes, 40 meters might work
out, particularly if we put some power behind it.

I am going to start transmitting on 14.083300 tonight on the hour and
half hour starting about 8:30 PM CDT. I will switch to 40 Meters
7.083300 if the 20 meter band is closed or when it does close and keep
going till about 10:30 or 11:00PM CDT.

If you hear me, please drop me a report. To start with, I will run 150
watts output to a high dipole. If that doesn't work out, I'll try some
power in a few days.

Tomorrow morning (Wednesday) I will start on 20 meters as soon as the
band opens. Again the two frequencies are: 14.083300 and 7.083300 Mhz.

Best regards - Roy Norris, K4EEG
