I think it started with the Western Electic tubes.  Certain 
"audiophools" insist that there is a difference.  Now, I suppose 
anything made by Western Electric sounds better.  Have you seen what 
rolls of textile insulated switchboard wire is going for?

I prefer to listen to music in a room where the air has been evacuated 
and replaced with Western Electric KS-9222 L14 audio grade air.  I find 
that the specially selected atoms make for an improved response at high 
frequencies.
