The tool looks like a horse shoe, has a rubberized cover
in the bend so you don't slice your fingers off. The ends of the "shoe"
are "L" shaped in opposing directions. This device is thin 1/16 or
so thickness, look at the fins on the 4CX250(*) the "L" portions
fit inside the fins, when you compress them, release after insertion
and the hook to the underside of the tube plate, IF it is a tube with
pins on the bottom, rock it gently side to side and pull up, If it is a
coaxial type first twist the tube gently, when you feel free travel
lift slowly to remove the tube.
These extractors are usually found in the tube compartment of
say the KWT-6 amp, on the wall for tube replacement.
YMMV

Subject: [GreenKeys] Power tube removal
Hello all,
I am working on some amplifiers that use 4CX250B style eimac tubes, they are
in a socket at the bottom of a deep chimney and are almost impossible to
remove without grabbing the top with pliers which chews it up. my question
is does anyone know of a good way to get them out or is there a tool maybe
something like snap ring pliers with flat tongs that slide down between the
fins??? and if so where in the world can I get a pair??
Thanks
Tony
