Jack, 
Thanks for answering, and thanks for the tips.  I
think if I am understanding you correctly that if I
get the equipment necessary to have a ham shack and
want to be exclusively rtty and set all this up and
expect the UCG-129 to print out news, weather, sports
and emergency news I might be in for a rather large
disappointment. My contacts will be limited to others
with the same set up using older RTTY equipment. Since
you said most RTTY is PC generated and I do have an
extra working PC lying around the house I would assume
that I could interface my radio equipment with a PC OR
my teleprinter? Is it possible to have both hooked up?
  I know I don't even need a UCG or any teletype
machine if I have a PC but the older teletype
equipment intrigues me and would like to experience
using them. My want to get my license ASAP and I want
to enjoy HAM RTTY and I appreciate in advance the
tips. I welcome any comments and appreciate the
honesty.
