A month or so back i mentioned that i had pages from RTTY Journal from
1976 that showed the coding of weather broadcasts. I had one taker for
the offer of making copies of that. Now i can't find the email of that
person so if it's you, drop me a line with your address so i can get
this on it's way to you.
On CW, i took the CW test in the FCC exam room up in Denver back in the
mid 70's i think it were. Never had a blink of a problem although i was
a bit shaky (literally) when doing the sending portion. Don't know why
as CW with a straight key or Vibrokeyer was so easy for me. Guess it
was just the jitters. I vowed when i got my novice in 58 that i'd never
use CW. For probably 30+ years afterwards i use that almost
exclusively. It was so much fun. WOrking weak signal DX was absolutely
great fun. I still use it (CW) an run anywhere from 15-25 WPm most of
the time but i always QRS to the speed of the station who i am working
unless they say it's ok to run faster. I can't imagine hams not wanting
to know how this mode performs. Anyway.....
I'm preparing for my X-country trip to Virginia in April. I'll have
room in my pickumuptruck to haul stuff along. Plan is for travel from
the Phoenix area to I-40 and then across country to North Carolina. I
have a variety of TTY converters/keyers, Panadapters, signal generators
(Motorola), Northern Radio, TT-63 and an assortment of other stuff that
i'd be willing to haul along and drop off along the way. I don't care
to deviate from the I-40 flight path tho so whoever is interested in any
of this stuff would have to either meet me along I-40 someplace or have
a designated pickup person do so.
Let me know if your interested in any thing in particular. I'm trying
to make room in the garage for a vehicle and i've got a long way to go.
Departure date will be around the 9th of April.
