Well, we certainly have had lots of input on Morse Code. I am sorry for
getting this started. My apologies, but we should have room for everyones opinion
without getting upset.

I think the code should remain a part of amateur radio at some level. I
think its just a question of where to draw the line. I want to learn it to be
part of the old-timers group. I am certainly in the age bracket. I am 62 and
have been in commercial radio and television for 35 years and most of my
coworkers and friends over the years have been hams. I have attended many swap meets
with them over the years. However, personally, it was always the learning the
code that stopped me from getting my license. I became an amateur
(technician level) 5 years ago. I think that encouraged me to want to move on to the
general license level and if the code is part of that, fine. I do have more
time now to devote to the hobby.

In listening to the different bands that I am not licensed for yet, I find
that most hams are still acting like gentlemen, polite and gracious. I have
found a few spots where questionable language and arguments about who was there
first, etc, occur. These are the exception, but they are probably most
noticed. With 700,000 amateurs, there are bound to be a few bad apples.

With 300 Greenkeyers, we should be able to get along, dont you think?
