Well to answer that question, I know that the Bell System, used M15 RO's
for LIT or Line Insulation Test results in the old Step by Step Central
Offices, these were automated routine testing of cable facilities done
during the evening hours. The information was send to the M15 via a M14
transmitter/distributor, that was wired directly into the test selector,
ie, not paper tape. They were supposed to proactively indicate
developing cable troubles, wet, shorted, crossed, etc., but from my
recollection, nobody ever looked at the print-out!!
