Paul,
I have a 1944 vintage AR-8506B receiver in great working condition, part of
my 1944 Federal Radio FT-102 radio console, which also includes the McKay
167-BY HF transmitter (200W, CW only). The FT-102 was used on Victory ships
in WW2.
Interestingly, I also have an identical receiver, with a light olive drab
color front panel, in the same color desktop cabinet, labeled Signal Corps
R-203/SR, manufactured by RCA Radiomarine with contract date of 1952!
I rented the AR-8506B manual from W. J. Ford and had it reproduced by Kinko.
Ford rents the manual, ready to scan (the pages are separated), for
$10/month, with refundable deposit.
Later, when I got the R-203 version, I bought the manual from Fair Radio,
they sell the military TM for it for $15.
Again, the two models are identical, except for the vintage and color.
