[GreenKeys] ST6 Progress and Request?

Hello all!

I've been working to repair some ST6s I've acquired and have been slooowly learning how these things work. Quite ingenious! I have been doing a lot of swapping out of components to help troubleshoot. The best money I've spent for a tool on my workbench is the hakko 808 desolderer! I know lots of people question the value of spending that $$ when solder wick and a soldapult can do the job. I never knew this thing could be so useful. Press a button, suck the solder and the component literally falls out into your hand. Especially useful for chips! Best part is the heat is on the component for no more than 2-3 seconds whereas I've killed components in the past trying to heat them up with the iron and wick. I am not affiliated in any way, just a really happy customer. One neat thing that this allows me to do that I never ever would have attempted in the past is, when trying to determine if a particular component is bad but I dont have a spare one-I simply take the component out of a working card, try it in the bad card and if that doesnt fix it, I replace it back to the original card. I never would have risked a component from a working card in the past for fear of damage in the desolder process. I can literally swap components all day long from working pcb's and never worry (of course you can risk the compnent from being fried from due to other faults on the circuit in question) Anyway, enough of that. Add it to your christmas/hannuka list - highly recommended!

Now for a request: Does anyone have a spare set of ST6 rack-mount side panels? I would be happy to trade a set for my desk-style side panels.

Thanks
Eugene
