What ever happened to RTTY Art? That was one of the main
reason a lot of Amateur Operators went to RTTY instead of
SSB, Code, and A.M. Voice QSO's.
It was fun to copy picture art on the Teletype. Instead now
there seams to be only brief QSO's just for contest.
What is your opinion?

Hi James and the others who have recently expressed an interest in RTTY art.
I recently tried to revive some interest in RTTY art by making available
my Auto-Pix RTTY picture system, but there seemed little interest. I
have about 1500 pix available. Auto-Pix was written by Walt, K8LC.
Perhaps some of you accessed his Auto-Pix system in the past.
Briefly, here's how it works:
A user calls up the system and it logs you on. You can then obtain a
list of the system commands, directory of the current disk, get a list
of the sub-directories available, change to a different disk, (each
"disk" contains about 25 pix), get fills for a pix, get size of pix
file and approximate run time, etc.
Russ, WA3FRP has tried it a couple of times and enjoyed using it.
I can have it on by request from anyone. 20 meters is probably the best
bet. I will not have it on during RTTY contest periods. Some Thursdays
and Fridays, I'm not around.
So I hope some of you will get back to me and give it a try. I think you
will have fun.
Thanks,
Doug K6HGF
