[GreenKeys] 2B receiving copy

Tonight was the first on-the-air test of my 2B and loop interface.

I tuned into the W1AW propagation broadcast on the Harris RF-590A, which
is connected to the Dovetron tempest demod, which is tied to the loop
interface and power supply I built into a box finally. I also have a
Tek 604 X-Y monitor connected to the Dovetron filter outputs which I
brought out to two BNCs.

To my pleasant surprise, I was able to copy good chunks of the
broadcast. I seem to have a couple of remaining issues with the 2B
which I need to work on, though. The good: I can set the range adjust
to just a bout anywhere and it seems to work. At the low end, like
below 20, it starts messing up but it goes all the way to the top. I
set it in the middle. The Bad: character spacing is not always uniform,
and when cold it sometimes does not advance. Something in there still
needs cleaning and/or adjusting. More problematic, sometimes the type
levers do not operate smoothly and at times I get a pileup if one does
not retract. I had thought I could get away with a good oiling but it
appears I will need to disassemble them and really clean things. They
were completely gummed up when I got the thing and for some strange
reason the design of this machine seems to need them able to move freely.

But wow, very cool to have the radio bleeb-bleebing along and the
printer spitting out tape with meaningful words on it. The sound of the
typing is great. I don't have the right oily smell yet, but was in an
elevator at my doctor's building and I got a whiff of that smell so I am
going to contact the service company to see what oil or grease they use.
