I've received a some comments about the URA-17 schematic...
Ideally - we'll find an original that can be scanned (whole manual,
eventually) - which will (IMHO) provide a much better result - with no
where near the work required to "reconstruct" the schematic I have. My
intention was to provide "something" that was usable until a more proper
solution was found. "Something" being better than nothing.
With that in mind - a couple of comments:
First - please understand this is a 30+ year-old photocopy. "Back in the
day" the photocopiers we had aboard ship weren't very good - if working
at all. They weren't "flat bed" - you had to feed the original "through"
the machine - which meant that these large - fold-out schematics had to
be "folded" and copied in sections - the copies then taped together. Not
a pretty process.
Second - what I have is a 30+ year old photocopy. Made the way it was -
it's quality isn't good to begin with - and while it hasn't faded much -
the paper certainly has yellowed some - the tape much more, even under
an illuminated magnifier - parts are impossible to read - and none of it
is really very good...
I used a good (not great) scanner to make the scans - scan*s* because
it's only capable of 8.5 X 14... so this foldout oversize schematic took
four scans. Using the Photoshop 8 component of Adobe Creative Suite - I
combined the four scans into one. Needless to say - the resulting image
file is huge.
With my original goal in mind of supplying a "stop-gap" solution - I
cleaned up the schematic, replaced much of the unreadable text -
compressed it down to a more practical download size of 11Mb (jpg) and
uploaded it for anyone needing something of a schematic.
Apparently this has disappointed some.
So - The original .raw and original .tif files are now uploaded on my
site (or will as soon as the uploads finish - at these file sizes it's
going to take a while - even on my DSL.)

Have at 'em. Anyone/everyone has my permission to download them and use
them for their own, private use. Clean, tweak and have a ball.
Just FYI - these file are BOTH well over 300Mbs each...
best regards...
