I have a second server up and running on ITTY.
About 6 PM I will shutdown the old one and replace it with the new
one. It should not take very long to accomplish, but I thought it
wopuld be good to let the world know what will be happening.
If you would like to get an idea of what the new one is like, I have
it ported to: 207.207.72.32:8010/listen.pls. It is carrying the same
audio and same data as ITTY, and there are some slight hum artifacts
due to a common ground between the two computers, but that will be
gone when the old one is yanked.
I also have a computer with two sound cards in it listening to both
channels. Winamp is a very powerful tool for making a dual sound-card
setup in a single computer work very well. The only thing necessary
is that the two cards be of different manufacture, and both be PCI.
Winamp allows both cards to run such that you can have ITTY on one
and smooth jazz on the other, with no discernable interaction.
Winamp also allows for buffering the sound cards with as much as
about fifteen seconds of buffering, with a couple of pre-buffering
arrays as well. All three buffers are adjustable, and if you are
experiencing pops and clicks on ITTY adjusting the buffering will
almost certainly eliminate the problem.
I have seen several comments on GreenKeys wondering about a re-run of
the pictures. Unless someone has a better time to start, I figure
about 1800 Eastern/1500 Pacific Monday would be a reasonable time to
start. Those who wish to reperf, get 'em all oiled up, and fresh
rolls of tape on hand.
Hope Y'all had a ver Nice and Merry Christmas
