I spent 20 or so years on teleprinters using the telex system from
operating  to servicing to selling usage of the network and we
stressed that one of the main selling points of telex was it was the
only form of transmission system which is legally recognized as
possessing full legal document status.

But Nick, bringing our attention to paragraph 2 of the Evidence Act
1995 section 161 Telexes does raise a doubt with me that this para 2
is a fairly recent addition to the act that we were not made aware of
in the 70's.
