Hello, GreenKeyers - - -
Now that I am completely out of my involvement with the sandwich
racket, I have time to pursue more important stuff..
Regarding Reperf and Model 33 Print Hammers - - -
A visit to a plastics firm in Tacoma has uncovered material I believe
to be ideal to the applications.
I have ordered two pieces of material I think will be as good or
better than the teletype original product - which, as it turns out,
was not the greatest stuff around, but, science and chemistry have
advanced since then. I will have to learn how to machine the material
such that the parts will work well in the machines, but that task
won't take long. More on this topic as things progress. The sheets
of material will be here this coming Thursay, and I will begin then.
Regarding the Teletype Manual sort - - -
It is underway. I estimate that I have about three hundred books,
some are very early, circa 1931, some are the multiple-volume
Navships and Sea Systems command books, and many are just the
teletype books in the brown and later on grey binders. There are at
least seven copies of the 28ASR Parts book.
My Model 12 , 26, and 31 books will never leave the place. I will
pull a set of everything I am interested in, which is primarily the 5
and 6 level equipment.
I have books on the model 33, 35, 38, 40 and 43 that I will not have
any need of.
Anything I have deemed un-needed will be put into a series of
numbered boxes, with a description of the contents along with the
number.
The list will be posted on GreenKeys.
I want a fair distribution of the material, so when the time comes,
please help me to be fair and equitable. The pile is a result of
about ten years of rescuing machines and information from the jaws of
the chompers and shredders, with the purpose of trying to keep the
old technology around for a while. To remain true to the purpose of
keeping the old clunkers going, I will NOT sell the books, but feel
it is fair to ask that postage and shipping be paid by the
recipients.
Machine availability - - -
I have just removed from a nice warm basement a model 35ASR which is
in very nice condition, is complete and includes a model 35 Typing
Reperf mounted on the keyboard in place of the customary plain
vanilla punch. The Electric Service Unit is complete with all of the
cards, and has a separate magnet driver for the typing reperf. The
bit of paper which is still in the platen shows that it was being
used on the Northwest's RATTS net at its last operation. A blast with
some solvent, proper lubrication, and some 409 to clean the cabinet,
keyboard, etc., and this machine is good to go.
I will also have two or three model 28 ASRs, a table-top 28, and two
or three Console KSRs and maybe an RO available. There are two or
three BRPEs, eight-level type. Some model 14 typing reperfs will most
likely become available as well. There is a 35 Table-Top KSR, and a
35 Typing Unit in a Ma Bell Foam shipping container. Should there be
no interest, all will go to the dump as I am out of room.
I am planning a run to California in the latter part of June and am
willing to haul stuff with me, asssuming there is a recipient. I will
ask some assistance with fuel, otherwise the stuff is available at no
charge.
Lemme know what you might have an interest in, and we will converse.
73,
George - W7TTY
