[GreenKeys] Cleaning stuff, etc..

That "gunk" is typically sold by Safety-Kleen Corp. It's essentially
the same substance as charcoal lighter fluid. This stuff will suck
the oils right out of your skin (I speak from long experience, and
many youthful hours spent working the grime off of automobile
transmission parts), so wear heavy rubber gloves when you're using this stuff!
A reasonable alternative is the "mineral spirits" you can buy by the
gallon at various hardware outlets; also hard on skin, so gloves
are needed for this solvent, too.
Cheap.. er.. inexpensive versions of the Safety-Kleen machines
can be bought at Northern Handyman, Harbor Freight, and such. Having
a machine that pumps solvent over the work is an incredible advantage
when cleaning up mechanical gizmos. As mentioned many times on this
reflector: once cleaned, the lube is gone, so you'll need to re-oil
and re-grease every single moving part on your machine, after its
bath in Safety-Kleen.
