Hi Larry:
Some decades ago I upgraded by Southwest Technical Products "6800" computer by
changing out the transformer. The replacement had an extra winding and across
that is placed a cap that resonates at 60 Hz. This not only gets rid if spikes
but also provides a few AC power line cycles of backup power.
