Water Displacement formula #40 was designed to provide a quick clean
and temporary lubricant. It works just fine providing there is not a
lot of heat involved. I often use it in an application for a light
penetrating oil. As many know after a period of time involving heat
it will become gummy. This is why I normally use ONE LUBE, however
ONE LUBE does not clean as good as WD-40. The main advantage of
WD-40 is the water displacement feature. If the application is well
thought out, there should be no problems using it. Especially if the
device under treatment has been exposed to moisture.
WD-40 also does a great job of reactivating dried ink in older ribbons.
Most sincerely,
Don
