List member Jerry Murphy was dead on the money! - he showed me how a
latching lever is supposed to hold the code transfer levers (code bails) in
place while the code generator camshaft goes around to generate pulses. Sure
enough, my latching lever was out of position and one nudge of an oily
fingertip later I could type QBF as pretty as you please.
